Why do you say that?

Because there is a high demand on programmers, C++, Java, Oracle and other languages. And because their job has to do with the PC infront of them only, nothing else, all you need is to know how to program and to love it. Even after I was hired as an IT procurement specialist I was asked if I know Java to help, they have a number of programmers but they still need more. I’ve learned Java, C and Oracle but I’m not into programming anyway.
And if you ask me, when it comes to computers and electronics, they always prefer males to females. My colleague was hired as a programmer but she ended up doing 50% of the administration job too because she’s a female.

Well being able to program and loving it is one of the hardest things I’ve known in my life. The amount of knowledge and time someone needs to dedicate to be a good programmer is shocking.
I believe that everyone who works in an IT field should have a strong programming background, it helps alot.
As for the gender issue, I blame females for this fact. It’s not only in our society, it’s a world wide thing, compare the number of male to female programmers, and you’ll see it’s a male dominated job.
almost every female I know who studied IT/CS doesn’t work as a programmer, which is a shame. But if a female was a good programmer, it wouldn’t stop her from getting a job like any other male.
Trust me programming is not easy. If someone doesn’t have the passion for programming they’d never be great programmers.
Good Luck learning Java
If I were you I’d buy a couple of good Java books and practice at home. Then try to learn advanced things, like OOP and software architecture.

Ammar, you’re right it needs passion which I lack. I’ve studied Java, I disliked my professor so I disliked Java
I’m more into Web design, I need to start learning ASP, PHP, Pearl…etc
