Al Jazeera protest calls for international investigation into US attacks on the station

November 24, 2005

Dozens of Palestinian journalists called to open an international investigation regarding the recent news published in the British Daily Mirror.

A news item claimed that US President Bush stopped plans to bomb Al Jazeera’s Qatar studios only when British PM Tony Blair talked him out of it.

Al Jazeera journalist, Wael Dahdouh, said that journalists began a sit-in strike to protest a planned Bush visit. Branches in the UAE’s Doha and other studios throughout the Middle East are doing the same.

Dahdouh called to open an investigation in the case of the US attacks on Al Jazeera offices in Baghdad and Kabul.

Journalist unions throughout the region agree with the necessity to open such an investigation.

Journalist Hassan Kashef said that Palestinian journalists do not need any proof of US aggression.
