Conference on Irish divestment from Israel

A conference will be held on the 26th of this month, November in Teachers Club, 36 Parnell Square, Dublin, Ireland to launch a divestment campaign in Ireland that aimsCRH Wall at getting Irish pension funds to divest from CRH, an Irish companywhich owns 25% of the only Israeli cement-manufacturing company, until/unless it provides an absolute guarantee that it is no longer involved in the supply of materials used in illegal Israeli construction projects in the West Bank.

According to the conference theme, attention will also be paid to the French company, Connex, that runs Dublin’s tram system and which has recently signed a contract to build an illegal Israeli tram system linking Pisgat Ze’ev and French Hill, two illegal Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem. The conference will decide what actions to be taken against Connex in regard of the franchise to run Dublin’s tram system.

  • Diana Buttu (Advisor to the Palestinian Authority)
  • Oren Ben-Dor (University of Southampton)
  • Ian Atack (Trinity College, Dublin)
  • Terence McCaughey (former chairman, for 25 years, of the Irish Anti-Apartheid Movement)
  • Brendan Archbold (MANDATE trade union and formerly a leading activist in the Irish Anti-Apartheid Movement)
  • Aoife Daly (Trinity College Dublin)
