Some Arab leaders ‘asked US to hit Al Jazeera office’
November 28, 2005…Al Kasim said Al Jazeera believes the US administration and the UK have something to hide.
“Otherwise why would they prohibit their media to publish the document or any information related to it?”
He also said the channel has evidence that some Arab leaders have been putting pressure on the Bush administration to hit Al Jazeera due to its controversial reports on Arab regimes, poverty and corruption in the region.
“We know that certain Arab leaders have asked the US Government to hit Al Jazeera ? or to take some action against the channel in a bid to muffle us,” he said without naming any country.
It sounds strange, Arab leaders putting pressure on Bush administration not the other way around?? if they really did that then…No comment!

well theres no way king abdullah was one of those people (if this story is true). i mean worst case scenario in jordan is shutting down the office which hasnt been done in long time. also im guessing half the people that work at aljazeera are jordanian nationals

i don’t want to discredit the reports about the alleged bombings but this report was published in The Mirror, a British tabloid known for its anti Iraq-invasion, anti-US stand. they have previously published pictures of British soldiers abusing detainees but later the pictures were found to be fake. that’s not to say similar abuse didn’t take place, but just to give an idea of the tabloid in question. many media outlets have made bashing the new-conservatives in the US administration into a profitable market which really diluted the effect of the serious criticism for neo-cons out there. in addition, al jazeera is playing it well. they are hyping the story up just like they were doing with the allouni and samer al hajj stories. in all honesty, i feel that i have to take what al jazeera tells me with a grain of salt, like i take the news fed to me by CNN - FoxNews is excluded because it is total BS.

Jameed, but we’re talking about a bombing here, if you were Al-Jazeera you would have done the same. Al-Jazeera demanded an investigation and I find that fair.
It’s not like the news was unbelievable, the US deliberately attacked a hotel full of reporters and journalists during its war on Iraq, they did kill a reporter from Al-Jazeera in the past and a camera man and another reporter are detained at Guantanmo, what more does Al-Jazeera need to take the news seriously?
They have all the right to hype up their stories anyway, it’s time Arabs learn from others, at least we do really have a story!!
