I’m Addicted to It!

January 13, 2006

Most health professionals consider four cups of coffee a day to be a moderate amount, but experts confirm that 500 - 600mg of caffeine per day (6 cups of fairly strong coffee) is quite safe for most people from a general health point of view. Naturally, this will vary from person to person and depend on what sort of coffee you drink. [Source]

It all started with one cup everyday, two if I have a final exam and know that even if I stayed up all night I will still not finish the studying material. However, in the past few weeks, I’ve started to consume 3, 4 and 5 cups daily!! It is not that I’m addicted by the way, because sometimes it is only one cup in the moring and that’s it. You know why? It is because when I’m busy I do not have time to get a drink, I sometimes (ok many times but don’t tell anyone) forget to eat. Now that the last few weeks we had holidays and I was done with end-of-year work madness, I find myself heading to the kitchen, like a robot, washing my mug, first adding milk then nescafe, stirring a bit then going back to whatever I was doing.

On a second thought, when I can actually remember, I always need to drink something whether it was nescafe or minted tea it doesn’t matter but nescafe almost always available.

  2. I drink 0 cups of coffee a day. I refuse to succumb to caffeine.

Of course, I usually end up falling asleep during meetings and in front of other people, but still, you go tell your caffeine friend that it can take away my waking time, but I will never let it take away my FREEEEEEEEDO..zzzZZzZzzZzzz

  3. bilotee, you figured out from my process of making my nescafe with milk? yea all my drinks are sugarless actually. I love how sugar cubes look, but I do not eat them :)

Hamzeh, hahahaha my caffeine friend lets me stay until 3 AM, even later. Of course I suffer from the consequences of doing that everyday but sleeping early sucks, and sleeping infront of people too :D

P.S My morning nescafe intake has just arrived :(

  4. I enjoy coffee a lot, and consume an average of three cups daily… but it’s not for the caffeine because that rarely ever works for me, I drink it at 11:00 PM and then at 11:10 I’d be “fi sabe3 7ulum” ;p

I tried ‘quitting’, but I don’t like tea, and I’m not a fan of hot chocolate, and I need to have something to drink… a friend of mine discovered a barley drink, totally organic, and tastes a bit similar to coffee!

  6. Ohoud, I certainly did not mean to praise it or to promote it. In fact I feel awefuly sick since the early morning, if anything nescafe has contributed to my sickness, I do not even know what is wrong exactly.

Lina, pleae share with me your friend’s discovery :)
